Arsenal left-back Nacho Monreal feels that finishing the season in the top four in the Premier League would be a huge achievement and be indicative of a successful season.

The Gunners were leading the English league for a major part of the season before a dip in form in March and April saw them slip to fourth in the table.

With just three more games to go in the season now, Arsene Wenger’s team are battling with fifth-placed Everton, who are just one point behind, for the final Champions League spot.

While teams like Tottenham Hotspur and defending champions Manchester United will be missing out on the European tournament next year, Monreal feels a top four finish will be a matter of pride for the Emirates Stadium outfit.

“People shouldn’t forget that a Premier League top four finish is really complicated since many teams in the league have a great level”, the Spanish international told Arsenal’s site.

“Clinching a Champions League spot for 17 years in a row is not easy at all.

“We managed to get back to winning ways whereas Everton had a setback against Crystal Palace, which made us climb to the fourth spot again.

"We can win the games we have ahead of us and if we do so we will qualify for the Champions League”, the 28-year-old added.

Arsenal will be hoping to gain maximum points to cement their place when they take on Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City over the coming weeks.
