Former Liverpool forward Jari Litmanen believes that Luis Suarez will light up the Champions League next season with his performances for Liverpool and stressed a talent like him deserves to be in Europe’s premier competition.

Litmanen joined Liverpool from Barcelona in 2001 and then-Reds manager Gerard Houllier said about the Finn: "We have signed a world-class player. He comes with a massive reputation and I believe he's one of the most exciting signings we have made."

The Finn has hailed Suarez’s goalscoring feat with Liverpool this campaign and rates him as one of the best in the world.

"He is a goalscoring machine and very-well known, not only now here in England but in the whole world”, the 43-year-old told the club’s official site.

"Personally, as a fan, I want all of the top players playing at the highest level – and Suarez is one of the most dangerous strikers in the world.

"He is a player who can create something from nothing and he is really, really important for Liverpool."

The Finnish footballer made 26 league appearances for Liverpool between 2001 and 2002 and went on to score five goals for the Reds.
