Former Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia has explained that he is thrilled to see the manner in which the Reds have been playing in the current campaign.

Brendan Rodgers’ side, who are currently five points clear at the top of the Premier League table, have played spectacular free-flowing football this season which has resulted in the club scoring 96 goals, the highest in the division.

Out of the 96 goals, 50 have been scored by the prolific strike pair of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

And Hyypia, who acknowledged that the Suarez-Sturridge partnership is one of the strengths of Liverpool, also lauded manager Rodgers’ attractive style of play.

"Brendan has done a great job with the team”, the former defender explained to Liverpool’s official site.

“When I see the team play, they are very confident in all departments of their game. I'm very happy for the club and for the fans.

"The front players are very good and they are dangerous. Suarez and Sturridge have scored more than 50 goals together this season. So, of course, that's one of the strengths of the team.

"When you have a few players who can score a lot of goals, then it helps any team. I think they have played some lively football and it's been passing football. I've enjoyed watching them."

Liverpool need just seven points from their remaining three Premier League fixtures to become the champions of England after a long gap of 24 years.
