Chelsea’s Mark Schwarzer has revealed that his side intend to spoil Liverpool’s party on Sunday, when both teams meet in a Premier League top-of-the-table clash.

The Blues, who drew 0-0 with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final first leg, are currently second in the domestic league table with 75 points from 35 matches, five adrift of leaders Liverpool.

Jose Mourinho’s men desperately need three points at Anfield to have any chance of winning the Premier League this season, thereby derailing Liverpool’s title charge in the process.

And Schwarzer, who explained Chelsea have still not given up on the league, insisted that his side will head into the Liverpool game with a clear agenda of coming out with the full three points.

“[We] have to focus on the next match, which is a rather large one on Sunday”, the custodian told his club’s official site.

“There's always a chance while it's mathematically possible. We have to go there with the mindset that we want to win the game.

“We've beaten the top teams this season and want to keep that going. Liverpool are the frontrunners and have everything to lose, and we need to go there and spoil their party.”

Chelsea defeated Liverpool 2-1 in the corresponding fixture at Stamford Bridge in December.
