Sebastian Eriksson could be the first Cagliari player to make the journey to Massimo Cellino's new club Leeds United.

Cellino, who owns Cagliari and recently acquired 75 per cent of Leeds, is keen to bolster the English giants over the summer with a view to putting the club in a position to challenge for promotion to the Premier League.

The Italian businessman has identified several players at Cagliari as potential reinforcements for Leeds, however it appears Swedish midfielder Eriksson could be the first to make the move to Elland Road.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Eriksson is likely to be Leeds' first signing from Cagliari, despite the player's agent insisting that talks have not yet begun over a move.

Agent Carl Fhager said: "In the current situation that is between Cagliari and Leeds, it is natural to make the link, but at the moment it is just rumours.

"If it were to come true, Leeds would certainly be an option for Sebastian."

The 25-year-old joined Cagliari, initially on loan, from IFK Gothenburg in 2011.

The Italian side then transformed his move into a permanent switch.

Eriksson has made 18 appearances in Serie A for Cagliari so far this season, operating as a defensive midfielder.
