Newcastle United have joined the hunt for Tenerife striking sensation Ayoze Perez, but may have to battle Real Madrid and Manchester City to sign the 20-year-old.

Perez has been in impressive form in the Spanish second tier this season, finding the back of the net 16 times so far this term, as the Canary Island club sit eighth at present, two points off a promotion playoff spot.

His performances have already attracted the eyes of Real Madrid, who have sounded out Tenerife about a deal, while Manchester City joined the fray last month.

Now, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Newcastle are also in the hunt for the 20-year-old.

A product of Tenerife's youth system, Perez made the breakthrough to the senior side this term, having represented the club's B team in 2012/13.

Born in the island's capital and popular with the club's fans, losing Perez would be a blow for Tenerife, however the Chicharreros may struggle to keep hold of the striker this coming summer.
