Southampton have shown signs of planning for Adam Lallana's departure, amid a bid from Liverpool for the England international, by stepping up their interest in Braga attacking midfielder Rafa Silva.

Liverpool have wasted little time in moving for Lallana, slapping in a bid for the England international in the hopes of doing a deal before the World Cup, where a positive performance could see demand for his services increase.

Now Southampton appear to be planning for Lallana's departure through their interest in Silva, according to Portuguese daily A Bola.

The 20-year-old has enhanced his reputation at Braga this season, turning out in 23 Primeira Liga games and scoring three goals.

Silva has also attracted interest from German duo Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke, along with Monaco and Roma.

However, the Saints will hope the temptation of playing in the Premier League is too much to resist for the Portugal international.

Silva won his first senior Portugal cap against Cameroon in March.
