Out-of-favour Aston Villa striker Nicklas Helenius has set his sights on a return to former club AaB this summer.

Helenius swapped AaB for Aston Villa last year, but has struggled to make an impact at Villa Park, finding himself overlooked even when Christian Benteke's season was ended early by injury in April.

Now Helenius' agent concedes a return to AaB would be perfect for his client, even if he stresses no talks have yet taken place to make such a move happen.

"Nicklas Helenius would like to return to AaB", Mads Bach Lund told Danish daily BT.

"It offers history and a sense of belonging, but there are not any conversations with AaB", he added.

"We have evaluated the spring period of the season in England and we must note it has not gone as hoped", the agent continued, explaining his client's dissatisfaction.

"We wanted to see how the last four games went before we drew any kind of conclusion.

"He has not played enough."
