UEFA is set to propose a new rule next year that will temporarily remove the player that causes an injury from the pitch.

Europe’s premier football governing body will propose a new rule to the International Football Association Board (IFAB) at the start of next year to temporarily remove the player who causes an injury as long as the injured player is being treated on the sidelines.

Referees’ chief Pierluigi Collina further explained the rule by saying that if the injured player is substituted then the player who committed the foul will be allowed back on the pitch.

"The player who causes the injury temporarily leaves the pitch as long as the injured player is being treated off the park", Collina was quoted as saying by the BBC

The IFAB is a body that determines the laws of the game of association football. It is made up of representatives from each of the United Kingdom’s football associations – the FA (England), the SFA (Scotland), FAW (Wales), IFA (Northern Ireland) – and a representative of FIFA.
