Borussia Dortmund’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed that Marco Reus will stay with the club for a long time to come.

Reus recently said that he is not leaving BVB this summer, thus countering all speculation that he was angling for a move out of the club.

The German international’s statements pleased the Dortmund hierarchy and their CEO said that it was expected that a top class player like Reus would be linked with moves to top clubs in Europe.

"He is a world-class player and other clubs’ interest in him is obvious”, Watzke told Bild.

The 54-year-old feels that BVB can convince Reus that they are the best club for him and he is hoping that the German international will stay with them for a considerable amount of time in the future.

“We are going to prove to Marco that this is the best club for him and want to keep him with us for a long time to come."

Manchester United were interested in flying the German to Old Trafford but their hopes seem farfetched..
