Barcelona are interested in signing Atletico Madrid’s Koke as a potential replacement for Cesc Fabregas this summer.

Koke is one of Spain’s most talented young midfielders and starred in the Atletico Madrid team that secured the league title at the Nou Camp last weekend.

Koke has been one of the mainstays of Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid engine room. He has clocked up 57 appearances for Los Indios this season, scoring seven goals and providing 17 assists.

The 22-year-old midfielder has a buyout clause of €60m, but Barcelona are confident that they can negotiate the price down to around €40m, according to Catalan daily Sport.

The Blaugrana could raise the funds for Koke’s transfer by making Fabregas available in the market.

Arsenal and Manchester United are keen to bring back the Spaniard to England and the Red Devils had a well publicised pursuit for Fabregas last summer, which ultimately ended in failure.

It is believed that Manchester United will again try their luck this summer if there is any indication from Barcelona that they are willing to sell the 27-year-old.

Fabregas scored 13 goals and provided 22 assists in 55 appearances for Barcelona this season.
