Championship side Leeds United are casting their net in Italian football with a focus on two strikers who tore apart defences in Serie B this season.

Owned by Italian businessman Massimo Cellino, who is in the process of selling Cagliari, Leeds are expected to make full use of the 57-year-old's knowledge of his native country to power their transfer dealings.

Cellino is also expected to welcome Cagliari sporting director Nicola Salerno to Elland Road in a further sign of the importance of the Italian market to the English Championship side.

On Leeds' radar are Sassuolo striker Leonardo Pavoletti and Catania forward Mirco Antenucci, according to Sky Italia.

Pavoletti, who spent last season on loan in Serie B with Varese, hit the back of the net an impressive 19 times in the Italian second tier.

Antenucci, who was also on loan, but at Ternana, also bagged 19 goals in last season's Serie B.

Cellino is now keen to take the pair to Elland Road, believing they can replicate their goal return in England's second tier and help Leeds' promotion push.
