Feyenoord have put talks to sell in-demand centre-back Stefan de Vrij on hold until after the World Cup.

Lazio have been making the running in the race to sign the Dutchman, while Manchester United, due to be managed by current Holland coach Louis van Gaal after the World Cup, have also been linked with making a move for the player.

De Vrij has been selected in Van Gaal's World Cup squad and Feyenoord have, according to Italian daily Il Tempo, put talks over a sale on hold as a result.

The Rotterdam giants believe that De Vrij's stock may well rise in Brazil if he puts in a number of solid performances for the Oranje.
