Ben Amos is looking at Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the USA as a chance to impress new manager Louis van Gaal before next season.

Van Gaal will commence his duties as the manager of Manchester United before they fly to United States for their pre-season tour next month.

Amos is the third choice goalkeeper at the club behind David de Gea and Anders Lindegaard, but the 24-year-old feels if he can impress in America next month, he can force his way into the manager’s thinking when the season starts in August.

“I think the tours are massively important for that,” Amos told the club’s official site.

“We’ve seen it with Tom Cleverley and other lads who have been given their first chance on tour and if you impress you’re in the manager’s mind when it comes to the start of the season.”

Amos cites the example of Adnan Januzaj, who impressed in last summer’s pre-season tour in Asia and forced his way into former manager David Moyes’ plans for the new season.

“He went on tour and had a good pre-season. He had good momentum from the matches he played on tour and, as I said before, put himself in the manager’s mind.”

Manchester United are set to take part in the International Champions Cup on tour and will take on the likes of LA Galaxy, AS Roma, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
