Thomas Muller has put suitors Manchester United on alert after admitting he needs talks over his future with Bayern Munich this summer.

At present Muller is focused on the World Cup with Germany, but the forward is already giving some thought towards his situation at the Allianz Arena, where the imminent arrival of Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund threatens to shake-up the club's frontline.

"I have come to a point where I want to know if I am an important part of tomorrow's starting line-up at Bayern. And what the club plans for me in the coming years", Muller explained to Bild.

"That's why I am looking to have this conversation", he concluded.

Muller has been strongly linked with Manchester United this summer on account of the English club appointing former Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal as their new manager.

The Germany international has admitted that he enjoys a good relationship with the 62-year-old.

Muller explained last month, in response to talk he could switch to Old Trafford: "It is no secret that Louis van Gaal and I had what was a special player-coach relationship."
