Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Negredo and Roberto Soldado are all targets for Atletico Madrid this summer as they prepare for life without Diego Costa.

Atletico Madrid are resigned to the fact that they will lose Costa, while David Villa is also leaving the club this summer after inking a deal with New York City FC.

Chelsea’s Lukaku and Manchester City’s Negredo are the primary targets for Atletico Madrid once the transfer window opens next month, according to Spanish daily El Confidencial.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Roberto Soldado is also a target, but Atletico Madrid will turn to him only if they fail to acquire either Lukaku or Negredo.

Negredo joined Manchester City last summer from Sevilla and started regularly for the Citizens. However, towards the end of the season he slipped down the pecking order amid competition from Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko.

The Spanish champions feel that they can entice the hitman back to Spain with promise of regular first team football.

Atletico Madrid also believe that with their recent good relationship with Chelsea and the proposed transfer of Costa to the London club, they can negotiate a deal to bring Lukaku to Madrid this summer.

Atletico Madrid are casting their net far and wide to find suitable replacements for Villa and Costa, to allow them to launch a credible defence of their league title next season and have a crack at the Champions League again.
