Atletico Madrid are making plans for the potential departure of centre-back Miranda by focusing in on Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio as a replacement.

Los Rojiblancos are under siege this summer, having lost Diego Costa to Chelsea, David Villa to New York City FC, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is expected not to return following the expiry of his loan from Chelsea.

There is interest in winger Arda Turan and midfielder Koke, but a €30m buy-out clause means the most concern is being given to Miranda's situation.

The Brazilian is thought to have an offer worth €5.5m per year on the table from Manchester United, while Barcelona are also keen on securing his services.

And in a sign Atletico Madrid are not confident of keeping hold of the 29-year-old, they are actively looking at replacements.

The Argentine impressed with the Yellow Submarine in La Liga throughout the season, catching Simeone's eye.

It remains to be seen whether Atletico Madrid will attempt to secure Musacchio before losing Miranda.
