Cagliari have reported that midfielder Sebastian Eriksson has undergone surgery on his cruciate ligament injury.

Eriksson, who has been linked with moving to Leeds United this summer, damaged his knee ligaments in training with the Sweden national team.

He was assessed and surgery ordered, which has now been completed by Cagliari and deemed a success.

Eriksson will now begin his rehabilitation process, however any summer transfer looks unlikely for the midfielder due to his recovery time estimate.

Cagliari were owned by Leeds owner Massimo Cellino until yesterday, when the club was officially sold to Tommaso Giulini.
