Italian giants Inter have joined the race to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea and believe they have an ace to play in the form of Mauro Icardi.

Lukaku, who has spent the last two seasons on loan away from Chelsea, enjoys an uneasy relationship with Blues boss Jose Mourinho and has been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis this summer.

He is already attracting much interest, with Arsenal and Liverpool suitors, along with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

Atletico Madrid are keen, while Inter have now joined the race, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

Clubs outside England already have an advantage as Mourinho is not looking to bolster domestic rivals by selling Lukaku to a club in the Premier League.

And Inter are hoping that they can persuade Chelsea to sell to them, as they believe Mourinho wants to snap up Icardi.

The Portuguese tactician is a big fan of the young Argentine and the Nerazzurri feel including him in a deal for Lukaku may see them win Chelsea's approval ahead of other clubs.
