Pierre-Michel Lasogga has informed Hertha Berlin that he wishes to sign for Hamburg, snubbing interest from English side Newcastle United.

The striker spent last season on loan at Hamburg and established himself as a fan favourite, scoring 13 league goals despite the club enduring a poor campaign which saw a relegation playoff against Greuther Furth needed to maintain their Bundesliga status.

Lasogga, who has been linked with Newcastle, has now informed Hertha Berlin of his desire to sign for Hamburg, according to the Berliner Morgenpost.

And that means he has refused to extend a contract which is due to expire in 2015.

The capital club do not want to let Lasogga exit on the cheap however and have slapped a minimum asking price of €10m on his head.

It remains to be seen if Lasogga will be sold to Hamburg this summer, but the striker has made his position crystal clear to Hertha Berlin in that he will not move elsewhere and is prepared to wait out his contract if no deal is done.

The 22-year-old made a total of 24 appearances for Hamburg in his loan stint, scoring 15 goals in all competitions.
