Leeds United supremo Massimo Cellino intends to move the club's training base closer to their Elland Road stadium.

The Italian businessman, who bought 75 per cent of Leeds earlier this year, believes that the side's Thorpe Arch training base has brought bad luck to the Yorkshire giants.

Now Cellino is determined to break what he sees as a curse brought about by training at Thorpe Arch.

He told a press conference: "For this year yes [we will be there] but we are looking for land close to the club because my intention is to move the training centre close to Elland Road.

"I'm very superstitious.

"Thorpe Arch was built in 2002. Since then we are down. I don't think it's a very lucky place.

"So there's something wrong with that place. It's too far away."

Cellino has recently appointed a new boss at Leeds, bringing in former Forest Green manager David Hockaday.
