Manchester United have been warned that they have lost a gem in Alexander Buttner, who will be plying his trade for Real Madrid within the next three years.

That is the message from Buttner's agent after his client headed to Dynamo Moscow from Manchester United on a three-year deal.

Buttner, who was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2012, saw his chances of regular first team football recede under the Scot's successor, David Moyes, while new Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal was quickly judged by the defender's team as likely to hand their client even fewer opportunities.

Citing Van Gaal overlooking Buttner for international duty with Holland, the player's agent Alexander Bursac told Omroep Gelderland: "If one does not receive one phone call for the Oranje, then one should get out as soon as possible."

And Bursac feels Manchester United have lost a very special talent in Buttner.

"In three years he'll be top notch and then he can go to Real Madrid", the agent added.

The 25-year-old made just eight appearances in the Premier League for Manchester United last season, however he did make a further seven appearances in cup competitions.
