Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has continued his hunt for players in his native Italy by focusing in on striker Mirco Antenucci.

Cellino, who acquired Leeds and sold Serie A side Cagliari earlier this year, is working hard to put his contacts in the Italian game to good use, as he aims to strengthen the Yorkshire club's squad ahead of the new campaign.

According to Sky Italia, Antenucci is the latest player on Cellino's radar, with the businessman believing the prolific goal-getter could flourish in England.

Antenucci turned out for Ternana in Serie B last season and hit 19 goals in 40 league appearances.

He has been under contract with Catania, but is believed to want to remain with Ternana and the club have indicated they have activated an option to keep him.

However, it is possible interest from Leeds could turn the 29-year-old's head in favour of a move to England.

Leeds are currently in Italy at a pre-season training camp.
