Gabi has signed a contract extension with Atletico Madrid which will keep him at the club until 2017.

The midfielder led the club to a league title triumph last season and they also reached the Champions League final, only to be beaten by Real Madrid.




Gabi is a product of Atletico Madrid’s youth academy, but he left the club for Real Zaragoza in 2007.

He returned to the Los Colchoneros in 2011 and since then has won the Europa League and La Liga at the Vicente Calderon.
 


Gabi has expressed his excitement at signing a new contract with the club and said that he wants to create more special moments at the Vicente Calderon.

“I want to keep making history and helping the team”, the 30-year-old told the club’s official site after putting pen to paper.

Gabi has made 209 appearances for Atletico Madrid, scoring seven goals and providing 23 assists.
