Liverpool are closing in on Lille striker Divock Origi, but could still be pipped to the Belgian's signature by Real Madrid.

Brendan Rodgers' men have agreed a fee for Origi with Lille, thought to be between €10m and €14m, and have also agreed to loan the starlet back to the French club for next term.

Origi is due to hold discussions with Liverpool next week, now he has returned from the World Cup following Belgium's quarter-final exit, and the Reds will hope to quickly close the deal.

However, according to Sky Italia, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has taken a strong interest in Origi and the European champions are ready to see if they can steal the player away from Liverpool.

Ancelotti is convinced Origi can add to Real Madrid's attacking options and Los Blancos look to be angling to offer the striker an alternative to Liverpool.

Lille are clear that they want Origi to remain with them for next season and Real Madrid would be asked to also make that guarantee.

Origi was a surprise inclusion in Marc Wilmots' Belgium World Cup squad and increased his stock through his performances in Brazil.
