Everton striker Arouna Kone has revealed that he is confident about making his mark at the club in the 2014/15 campaign.

The Ivory Coast international, who joined the Toffees from Wigan Athletic last summer, endured an injury-ravaged first season at Goodison Park.

Kone injured his knee against Hull City on 19th October and scans later revealed that he had suffered a cartilage problem, which put the 30-year-old out of action for the rest of the season.

However, the forward is determined to create history in an Everton shirt this season as the Merseyside club aim to better their fifth place finish in the Premier League.

“It's going to mean an awful lot to me to wear that shirt next season because I've not yet written any history, I've not made my mark on Everton or created my own chapter of the story that is this club”, Kone told his club’s official site.

“The season ahead, for me, is one where I have to prove my worth as a player and I accept that challenge and I'm ready to take that challenge on.”

Kone, who has a further two years left on his present contract with Everton, is yet to find the back of the net for the club in 11 appearances thus far.

He has 39 caps and nine goals for Ivory Coast to his name.
