Former Liverpool forward and Champions League winner Luis Garcia was unveiled as the marquee player for Atletico de Kolkata earlier today, ahead of their participation in the inaugural Indian Super League.

Garcia played for Atletico Madrid, the joint owners of the Kolkata team, over two spells and announced his retirement earlier this year after spending two seasons in Mexico.

However, the 36-year-old announced earlier today that he will be joining the newly-formed Atletico de Kolkata in the Indian Super League.

“I'm very excited to share with you my new challenge, I've decided to join Atletico de Kolkata in the new Indian Super League”, Garcia said via Twitter.

Garcia won the FA Cup, the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup in his time at Liverpool and is regarded as a fan favourite at Anfield.
