Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is in talks to sign for Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Aston Villa have been tracking the Denmark international, but according to Danish daily Ekstra Bladet, the striker has been holding talks with Eintracht Frankfurt about a move.

Bendtner was released by Arsenal at the end of last month following the expiry of his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

His camp have claimed he is very close to joining a new club, although where he will end up is still unclear.

Eintracht Frankfurt were keen on Bendtner last summer, but the striker's wage demands ended their interest.

Now the German club are offering a three-year contract, worth £1.6m per year.

Bendtner is looking for regular first team football at his new club, something which eluded him under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.
