Newcastle are setting their sights on Juventus defender Mauricio Isla, as they attempt to replace Mathieu Debuchy, who is bound for Arsenal.

The Gunners have moved to snap up Debuchy from the Magpies following the loss of right-back Bacary Sagna, who has joined Manchester City following the expiry of his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

That has left Alan Pardew's men with a hole to fill and they are casting their eyes to Italy for the answer.

According to Italian daily Tuttosport, it is Chile international Isla that is in Newcastle's sights, amid signs Juventus would not be opposed to selling for the right price.

It remains to be seen if Isla is willing to swap the Italian champions for Newcastle however, especially with the Magpies not being able to offer any form of European football.

Juventus signed Isla from fellow Serie A outfit Udinese in 2012 and he has collected two Italian league titles in Turin.

He also turned out for Chile in this summer's World Cup in Brazil.
