Sevilla president Jose Castro has insisted the club are no longer in talks with Liverpool over the sale of left-back Alberto Moreno.

Liverpool chased the Spaniard earlier this summer and looked to be on the brink of closing a deal before backing out and reconsidering.

It had been claimed in England that Liverpool have rekindled their interest and once again opened talks to sign Moreno.

But no so says Sevilla president Casto.

"There was interest from Liverpool", Castro was quoted as saying by Marca earlier today.

"But since then there are no ongoing negotiations", he added.

"We hope he continues with us next season", Castro concluded.

Moreno earned praise for his performances with Sevilla last season as the Spanish club collected the Europa League.

He was named in Vicente del Bosque's provisional Spain World Cup squad, but failed to make the final 23-man cut.
