Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling feels his World Cup experience will come in handy as he targets another successful campaign for the Reds.

The 19-year-old represented England in all three of their World Cup games as the Three Lions crashed out of the group stage of the competition.

And Sterling, who admitted he learnt a great deal from England’s World Cup campaign, was however disappointed with the way the tournament panned out for his nation.

But the youngster was quick to add that he relished showcasing his talent on the global stage and that he is hopeful about England faring better in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

"For any young person to be involved in such a big tournament is obviously a great experience and it was no different for myself”, he told Liverpool’s official site.

"It was a good feeling to get out there on the pitch and show the world what I could do really.

“Obviously on a team performance [level], we are disappointed with how the tournament went. We would have liked to be in the tournament up until now and all the way to the final, but that was not the case.

"It was a learning curve for me – an experience I am willing to learn from.

"Hopefully we build from this World Cup experience and go even further in the next four years."

Sterling, who has a further four years left on his present contract with Liverpool, scored 10 goals in all competitions for the club in the 2013/14 campaign.
