West Ham could be about to complicate Liverpool's desire to sign Alberto Moreno from Sevilla by entering the race for the player the Spanish side have identified as his replacement.

Liverpool pushed to sign Moreno from Sevilla earlier this summer, but then held back and looked at other options over concerns about his price tag.

However, of late they have been strongly linked with rekindling their interest in the Spain international left-back.

Sevilla are not keen on losing Moreno as the new season approaches, however the club's sporting director Monchi has identified Malaga's Vitorino Antunes as the perfect replacement.

But according to Seville-based Estadio Deportivo, English Premier League side West Ham have now moved firmly into the race for Antunes.

And should the Hammers secure the 27-year-old, Sevilla would be left looking elsewhere for a replacement, something which could cause the Europa League winners to have even greater reluctance to sell Moreno to Liverpool.

Antunes, who has won eight caps for Portugal, only joined Malaga last summer, costing the Spanish side a fee of €1.25m.
