New West Ham signing Cheikhou Kouyate has praised the club's fans and revealed they have lived up to the report given to him by team-mate Mo Diame.

Kouyate joined the Hammers from Belgian champions Anderlecht earlier this summer and turned out for the first time for his new side in a friendly against Stevenage on Saturday, a game that ended in a 2-2 draw.

The Senegal international was happy to get minutes on the pitch for his new club under his belt. But most of all he was impressed with the club's fans, who made themselves heard even though the match was a friendly.

"It's fantastic! Momo Diame told me: 'You're going to love the fans. It's mad! They're truly amazing'", Kouyate told West Ham TV.

"And there you go, even for a pre-season game, I see that they're all there and supporting us.
