Liverpool CEO Ian Ayre is due to arrive in Spain within the next few hours as the Reds rekindle their attempt to sign left-back Alberto Moreno from Sevilla.

Last season's Premier League runners-up had been close to signing Moreno earlier this summer, agreeing personal terms with the player, before getting cold feet over the asking price and assessing alternative options.

Now though Liverpool are back at the table and according to Spanish daily Marca, Ayre is on his way to Spain for a fresh round of talks.

Liverpool, who know Sevilla are keen on striker Iago Aspas, are keen to include the Spaniard in the deal for Moreno.

Sevilla have always wanted the respective deals to be kept separate however and favour an initial loan deal for Aspas rather than a permanent move.

The Europa League winners have already thrashed out personal terms with Aspas, with the former Celta Vigo man agreeing to take a pay cut to move to the club.

Work still has to be done on the Moreno deal, but it now appears Liverpool are ready to push it over the line after a long pause.
