Newcastle United are poised to sign Feyenoord right-back Daryl Janmaat in a move which will open the door for Mathieu Debuchy to sign for Arsenal.

Debuchy has already given the green light to moving to Arsenal, but Newcastle have been keen to secure a replacement for the France international defender.

That man is Janmaat, who will cost the Magpies a fee of €6m to sign from Feyenoord.

According to Dutch daily the Algemeen Dagblad, Janmaat was scheduled to have a medical with Newcastle today, but that had to be postponed because the defender is ill.

He is now expected to be put through his medical paces at St. James' Park tomorrow and will then put pen to paper to join the Magpies.
