Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has ruled out any chance of winger Xherdan Shaqiri leaving the club this summer, despite the Switzerland international having been strongly linked with a number of clubs, including Liverpool.

Shaqiri expressed his unhappiness at the Allianz Arena earlier this summer, believing Bayern Munich had consistently overlooked him for the biggest games last term.

He also revealed he enjoyed a better relationship with former coach Jupp Heynckes than current boss Pep Guardiola.

Shaqiri's words put a number of clubs on high alert, but the Bavarians are not willing to allow the Switzerland star to leave.

"Xherdan is an important player for the future", Sammer was quoted as saying by Kicker.

"There are no thoughts of him leaving", he added.

Shaqiri further enhanced his reputation at this summer's World Cup, impressing with Switzerland and scoring a hat-trick against Honduras.
