Liverpool have completed the signing of Serbian winger Lazar Markovic from Benfica.

The Reds have spent some of the funds raised by selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona, scooping up Markovic for a fee of €25m, of which Benfica will receive €12.5m.

Benfica issued a statement earlier today, confirming they have now completed the sale of Markovic and have banked €12.5m.

Markovic only joined Benfica last year from Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade, costing the Portuguese side €6m for 50 per cent of the player's rights.

He enjoyed a fine campaign at the Estadio da Luz, making 49 appearances and scoring seven goals as Benfica scooped a treble of trophies.
