Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti wants the club to sign Ramires from Chelsea if Sami Khedira is sold this summer, amid strong interest from Arsenal.

Khedira has just one year left on his contract with Real Madrid and has so far resisted putting pen to paper on a fresh deal at the Bernabeu.

Arsenal have been alerted and are keen on snapping up Khedira, which Real Madrid will consent to if there is no movement on the contractual front.

However, Ancelotti is not keen on losing Khedira and does not view Toni Kroos as a suitable replacement; as a result, Ancelotti wants Ramires to be signed, according to Madrid-based daily Marca.

That will prove harder said than done for the European champions, with Chelsea unwilling to part with the Brazil international midfielder.

Kroos meanwhile is due to have his move to Real Madrid from Bayern Munich confirmed later this week.

The midfielder has just one year left on his contract at the Allianz Arena and has refused to pen an extension.
