Real Madrid want the future of Iker Casillas resolving by 1st August as it appears increasingly likely he will leave the club.

Casillas has grown frustrated at playing second fiddle to Diego Lopez in La Liga matches, with concern about a lack of match practice affecting his form, as was evident in the Champions League final and the World Cup, where he came under fire.

The custodian, who Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has admitted the Gunners would love to sign, is not short of suitors, but still undecided on quitting the Bernabeu.

Now, according to Spanish daily El Confidencial, Real Madrid have vowed to resolve Casillas' situation by 1st August, with a clear decision made over whether he stays or goes.

An issue is finding a club willing to match his €9m per year salary in Madrid, while Casillas also not clearly asked to leave Los Blancos.

Nevertheless, the signs from Carlo Ancelotti are again that he will prefer Lopez for La Liga clashes, something which promises more frustration for Casillas.

Casillas has so far made 678 appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions.
