West Ham United are hoping to conclude the signing of Enner Valencia from Mexican club Pachuca this week, according to the BBC.

The striker was a bright spot for Ecuador in their disappointing World Cup campaign as they were the only South American nation who failed to reach the knockout stage of the tournament.

Valencia scored three goals in as many matches in Brazil, with two of them coming against Honduras and one against Switzerland.

The 24-year-old, who netted 18 times in 23 league games last season, underwent a medical at West Ham yesterday.

The Ecuadorian joined Pachuca in January this year from Emelec, for whom he made over 100 appearances since making his debut in 2010.
