Massimiliano Allegri has wasted no time settling into his job as Juventus coach, with one of his very first tasks being to place a phone call to Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

The France international left-back agreed to join Juventus recently, with a two-year contract worth €3.5m on the table for the 33-year-old in Turin.

However, the resignation of successful coach Antonio Conte yesterday threw the move into doubt, with Evra looking for assurances over his future with Juventus and also talks with the club's new boss.

And according to Sky Italia, Allegri has wasted little time in providing Evra with just that, phoning the Manchester United man to promise he remains central to Juventus' plans.

Allegri was handed the Juventus job earlier today, an appointment which has split the club's fans.

The 46-year-old departed his post at AC Milan earlier this year, being replaced by Clarence Seedorf, who himself met with the bullet at the end of the season.

Allegri will now hope to be able to count on Evra for the new campaign as Juventus seek a fourth consecutive Serie A title.
