Newcastle United are set to complete the signing of Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere within the coming hours, for a fee around the €9m mark.

The Magpies have been trying to do a deal for the 24-year-old for the last week and are now closing on pushing an agreement over the line, which will see the striker swap the Stade Louis II for St. Jamrs' Park.

Riviere is being allowed to leave Monaco by the club's new coach Leonardo Jardim and is now set on a new adventure in English football, according to French sports daily L'Equipe.

The striker found the back of the net on ten occasions for Monaco in Ligue 1 last term, helping the principality side to finish second in the standings behind Paris Saint-Germain.

Riviere joined Monaco in January 2013 and quickly played his part in the club winning the Ligue 2 title and earning promotion to the top flight.
