Bayern Munich have announced that their midfielder Toni Kroos will be joining Real Madrid after the two clubs reached an agreement.

The 24-year-old was in fine form for Germany at the World Cup and helped his nation to win the trophy by scoring two goals and providing three assists in the competition.

Bayern Munich announced: "Toni Kroos now plays for Real Madrid. There has been an agreement between the two clubs."

Kroos, who was targeted consistently by Manchester United over the last 12 months, joined Bayern Munich’s youth set-up in 2006 and made his Bundesliga debut in the following year, aged only 17 years old.

He was then loaned to fellow German club Bayer Leverkusen for one-and-a-half-seasons in January 2009, using the opportunity to quicken his development.

Kroos returned to the Allianz Arena in the summer of 2010 and slowly transformed himself into one of the club's top performers, quickly attracting admiring eyes from a number of Europe's elite as he helped the Bavarians to an unprecedented treble in 2013.
