Loic Remy is poised to join Liverpool on a five-year contract from QPR.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to close a deal for Remy as he seeks to replace the goals scored by Luis Suarez last season.

The Uruguayan hit the back of the net 31 times in the Premier League as Liverpool finished second; he has now though joined Barcelona.

And France international striker Remy appears to be viewed by Rodgers as part of the solution and is ready to sign a five-year deal with Liverpool, according to Sky Italia.

The French striker was wanted by both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, but the pair have pulled out of the race for his signature in recent days.

That has left the door open for Liverpool and Rodgers is set to make no mistake in closing the deal.

Remy joined QPR in January 2013 from Marseille, but could not help the R's survive in the Premier League.

He spent last term on loan at Newcastle United, scoring 14 goals in 26 Premier League games for the Magpies.
