Bebe is closing on a move to Benfica from Manchester United, after being left out of new manager Louis van Gaal's pre-season tour squad.

The Portuguese forward joined Manchester United in 2010, but struggled to make an impact and has been serving a series of loans away from Old Trafford.

Now, according to French broadcaster Eurosport, he is just a step away from joining the Primeira Liga champions.

Indeed, Bebe is expected to arrive in Lisbon soon to undergo a medical with Benfica and pen a contract with Jorge Jesus' men.

The 24-year-old, who was signed by legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, was loaned out to Turkish giants Besiktas in 2011, but suffered a cruciate ligament injury, restricting his game time.

He then returned to familiar climbs, joining Portuguese side Rio Ave on loan in 2013, before spending last term with another Portuguese outfit in the form of Pacos de Ferreira.

Bebe made 39 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 14 goals.
