Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has provided an update on Theo Walcott's return from injury and suggested that once the forward has returned to full training he could quickly find himself back in the team.

Walcott suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in January, when Arsenal met rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup.

The injury ended Walcott's season and also his hopes of going to the World Cup with England.

However, he is on the road to recovery and Wenger feels he will be back in full training by the end of August.

The Arsenal boss told his club's site: "He's progressing very well. He's worked very hard during the summer and we expect him to be back in full training at the end of August."

And when Walcott takes the important step of returning to full training, Wenger does not see many barriers between the forward and a spot in Arsenal's starting eleven.

"That's difficult to predict", he said, when asked when Walcott could play in the team again.

"Once he's back in full training it can be very quick. He has a good basis, which is what he's working on now."
