AC Milan have decided to make a move to sign winger Nani from Manchester United, but will play the waiting game in a bid to force the Red Devils to lower their asking price.

Nani admitted after the World Cup that his future could be away from Old Trafford and revealed he was aware of a number of clubs being interested in signing him.

The Portugal international is also understood to have been identified as a sale candidate by new Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.

However, according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, Milan are unwilling to fork out the €14m Manchester United are looking for in order to sell the former Sporting Lisbon man.

And so, Milan CEO Adriano Galliani will wait until later in the transfer window to make an approach, in the hope Manchester United will be flexible.

It may be a dangerous game for the Rossoneri to play.

Nani has also been linked with Milan's city rivals Inter, along with Italian champions Juventus. Portuguese giants Benfica are believed to be keen to enter the race too, bidding to tempt the 27-year-old to return to his homeland.
