Barcelona and Manchester United could be on a collision course over Ajax left-back Daley Blind, as they each seek to address their own need for a full-back.

The Catalan giants have been targeting Valencia's Jeremy Mathieu to solve their problem area, but negotiations have not gone as hoped and now Barcelona are seriously looking into capturing Blind as an alternative option.

However, Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is also keen on Blind and, with Patrice Evra heading out of the Old Trafford exit door for Juventus, feels the man he has just worked with at the World Cup with the Netherlands, could fit the bill.

According to Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo, Ajax, aware of the interest in the 24-year-old, have slapped an asking price of €22m on his head.

Ajax coach Frank de Boer has insisted that the Dutch champions desperately want to keep hold of Blind and build the team around him and several other youngsters.

But the Dutch coach also admitted that for the right price every player at Ajax is for sale.

Blind helped Ajax collect a fourth consecutive Dutch title last term, while he also further enhanced his reputation at the World Cup with the Netherlands.
