While Juventus have all but given up on their interest in Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri, Roma are accelerating their efforts to do a deal for the Switzerland international.

Shaqiri, who was unhappy at being overlooked for key games at Bayern Munich last season, has been strongly linked with leaving the Allianz Arena this summer.

A number of clubs have taken a close interest in his situation, not least Liverpool and Juventus.

However, Bayern Munich appeared to close the door on an exit earlier this week when sporting director Matthias Sammer said selling Shaqiri has never been considered.

That though has not put off Serie A giants Roma.

Indeed, according to Sky Italia, the Giallorossi have renewed contact with Shaqiri's agent and are pushing hard to sign the 22-year-old.

Roma are convinced Shaqiri would be the perfect addition ahead of the 2014/15 campaign, where they have Champions League football on the agenda and will also attempt to improve on last season's second place finish in Serie A.
