Real Madrid are ready to throw either Sami Khedira or Diego Lopez into their bid to sign James Rodriguez from Monaco.

The European champions have been talking to Monaco to thrash out a deal for the World Cup Golden Boot winner, but have found agreeing a fee to be a tough task.

Real Madrid do not want to pay more than €75m for the Colombian, an amount which has not met with approval from Monaco, who paid €45m to sign Rodriguez from FC Porto last year.

Now, according to German daily Bild, Real Madrid are prepared to throw in a player as part of the deal.

Those being offered to Monaco are midfielder Khedira and goalkeeper Lopez.

Khedira has just one year left on his contract at Real Madrid and has recently been linked with Arsenal, who are even mooted to have had an offer for the Germany star accepted.

However, personal terms have so far scuppered a move to the Emirates Stadium, with Khedira wanting €7m per year in wages.

Lopez meanwhile is set to see his position at Real Madrid questioned when Los Blancos sign Keylor Navas from Levante.

Navas recently starred between the sticks for Costa Rica at the World Cup.
